June 22, 2026Online
Information Session on the CAPES BAC+3 in Economics and Social Sciences (SES) and How to Prepare for It in the Third Year of Undergraduate Studies
Starting this year, the CAPES exam to become a secondary school teacher is administered at the bachelor’s degree level, meaning it can be taken starting in the third year of college.
If you are a junior majoring in economics (FEG) and sociology (SHS) at the start of the 2026 academic year, so these changes affect you because the upcoming written exams for the CAPES in Economics and Social Sciences (Economics, Sociology, and Political Science), to become a high school social studies teacher, will take place around March 2027.

If you pass the CAPES in Economics and Social Sciences during your third year of undergraduate studies (and successfully complete your third year), you will automatically enter the M1 MEE (often written as M2E) with the status of a student-civil servant, earning approximately €1,400 net per month, and then continue on to the M2 MEE with the status of a civil servant trainee, earning approximately €1,800 net per month.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of your individual plans—whether you’re simply curious, interested, or already set on taking the exam and pursuing a career in teaching.

Yannick Lacroix (Social Sciences professor and Director of the MEE SES Master’s program) is hosting a virtual information session to provide you with as much information as possible about the competitive exam, the preparatory course for the exam in S5, the new M2E SES Master’s program for those who pass the exam, the profession, and more.

In addition to answering your questions, we will cover the following topics in general:
  • What does the CAPES exam in Social and Economic Sciences (SES) for students with a bachelor's degree entail?
  • How can you start preparing for it this summer if you want to?
  • What does the M2E SES Master's program entail if you pass the entrance exam?
  • What should you do if you fail the exam and want to take it again?
  • What does the job of a social studies teacher actually entail?
  • What are the career prospects in teaching?
