Learn about the initial steps and regulations governing internships
To ensure a successful professional experience abroad, it is essential to find out in advance about the steps you need to take and the regulations that apply to internships.
The first steps
As a first step, it is recommended to:
- Understand the specific characteristics of international professional experience.
- Structure and refine your mobility project.
- Find out about the procedure for drawing up an internship agreement, if necessary.
To this end, information sessions are offered throughout the academic year. You can also contact your information and guidance center, as well as the "Internships" department of the Regional and International Relations Office atUniversité Grenoble Alpes.
Regulations governing international internships
Internships abroad are encouraged and students' career paths are supported through the use of standard bilingual agreements. For any internship outside mainland France or overseas, students are made aware of the safety conditions in the area via the declaration of departure abroad, which must be completed and attached to the internship agreement.
It is strongly recommended that you take out appropriate insurance (civil liability, health coverage, personal accident insurance).

Finance your project
Several funding programs can help you cover the costs associated with an international internship.
Existing mobility grants
The financial aid mentioned below is available to students undertaking an internship abroad as part of their studies atUniversité Grenoble Alpes UGA).
These programs are managed by the Scholarships Unit of the International Relations Department at the University of Georgia.
Main forms of assistance available:
Depending on the program, additional grants may be awarded to students receiving Crous grants based on social criteria and/or students with disabilities.
This funding can be combined with the Crous scholarship.
Caution : Financial aid is paid after the start of the mobility period and does not generally cover all expenses. It is therefore essential to plan your budget in advance (destination, cost of living, etc.).
Information meetings
Information sessions dedicated to international internship grants are organized during the academic year by the "Grants" department of the UGA's International Relations Division. Registration is done via the
UGA Career Center.
Award criteria
Only the
mandatory internships enrolled in the academic regulations (RDE) for your program are eligible for a
minimum duration of 1 month (4 weeks).
The scholarship is calculated based on
the minimum duration of the mandatory internship provided for in the RDE, within a limit of 24 weeks (6 months).
Before your departure, you will receive an email informing you of the decision to award (or refuse) one of the above-mentioned scholarships. The payment terms and the list of supporting documents will be specified in the email.
Application procedure
To apply for funding, you must complete the online international internship funding application form (link at the bottom of the page).
This form must be submitted
no later than 3 weeks before departure.
Documents to be provided in the form
- Updated resume.
- Proof of enrollment or copy of student ID card for the current academic year (UGA).
- Copy of the UGA internship agreement (PSTAGE format) signed and stamped by all parties—or, failing that, signed by the student if it is in the process of being signed.
- Copy of the study regulations for your program (RDE).
- Bank account details (RIB) for an account held in your name in France.
- For students receiving financial aid based on social criteria: a copy of both sides of the final scholarship notification from the Crous (year of mobility).
- For students with disabilities: copy of the Cotorep or MDPH decision, ALD certificate, or disability card covering the year of mobility.

Payment terms
The scholarship awarded is paid in two installments by bank transfer:
- An initial payment (deposit) corresponding to 75% of the amount, at the start of the mobility period.
- The remaining 25% at the end of the stay.
Payments are made exclusively to a bank account domiciled in France, after receipt and validation of the required supporting documents.
If you fail to submit your mobility documents within three months of your return, you may be required to repay any sums received.
